While you're at it, if you borrow a wheelchair you can get better seats at basketball games. You could also photocopy a handicap parking pass and park next to the terminal.
The service animal policy is there for people with legitimate disabilities. Agree that the ESA policy is overly-abused but joining in and abusing it too makes you just as reprehensible. Think of the example you're setting in front of your kids.
Those are inaccurate comparisons.
Borrowing wheelchair to get better seats-fraud because it was not prescribed
Photocopy a handicap pass-fraud since it was not prescribed
Service animal policy-That is completely separate from ESA's. Service animals are required and trained for a specific task. ESAs are by definition: a companion animal.
example for children- I don't have kids so its not really a concern to me.
Like I said before its a stupid loophole, but you can not tell me that I don't legitimately qualify for an emotional support animal by definition.
My biggest issue is when people put "service animal" vests on ESA's. This confuses the public and is a misrepresentation of the animal. It delegitimizes service dogs as well. I prefer to keep my ESA in his carrier.
Also data point, 50% of the time I have flown with him I was not even asked for ESA documentation or pet fee payment. I always keep a hard copy of the ESA letter in his carrier.
