Recently, I had booked a stay at a Hilton property and when arriving there, was told I would be sent elsewhere due to technical issues (involving power) there. I was indeed redirected to a nearby Marriott property and was able to stay there (at nominally the same rate, although not exactly). I experienced no other problems, but am wondering how I should be earning points/credit for my stay. As it is, I have earned nothing either at Hilton or at Marriott, and while this isn't the greatest existential problem, I believe I should earn something somewhere as I would otherwise have done. How should I go about this? Thanks for your suggestions.
