How far are you from Metro-North or Amtrak? Finding inexpensive parking in NYC will be difficult, especially in Manhattan. It might be less expensive to take a taxi/uber/lyft to the train station and hoping on the train.

I've heard of people finding somewhat inexpensive parking in Queens or New Jersey, but then you have the hassle of getting to Manhattan.

I would strongly suggest Metro-North or Amtrak.
