When I can, I avoid such hotels. In retrospect, I should have made much more of a fuss with management, but I suspect that it would not have been taken seriously.
I had someone enter my room without knocking during the day at a Florida kinda, sorta resort property. I was in it, napping after a long work shift, and the entrant did not announce himself until I challenged him -- whereupon he mumbled that he was "Er, here to fix the shower," which was not broken. I told him to leave, unsure if he was a real employee or someone casing the rooms with a stolen master when they were likely to be unoccupied. I rang down to the front desk which was utterly unconcerned. Shame on me for not throwing the security bolt, or having the presence of mind to shoot the guy.

On how many occasions have you fired?

Best to shoot everyone just to be on the safe side.
