I don't feel that those comments have any merit. The pro-rated AF refund is Chase's own policy, they offer it as a courtesy to keep a customer, and it happens automatically. Some have ethical concerns with downgrading shortly after receiving the bonus points to recoup much of the initial AF of the CSR or CIP, but that's a different conversation.
