I have good luck with Yelp in the USA for restaurants- they're good for new establishments where I live and letting me know where the old reliables are when I'm on the road. I don't really think of them for hotel info- that's booking.com or tripadvisor, and when I need to find a plumber or veterinarian, I use Next Door.
