So exactly how do we gain access to these lounges? Do we have to book ahead or do we just show up and present our boarding passes?
Do you have any suggestions on which lounges to pick in those airports?
btw, Happy New Year
You present your boarding pass to gain access to a lounge. Assuming status level doesn't play into it, in your case. A few outstations want a "lounge invitation card" which is given at checkin, but this is mostly for remote places where you won't transit. Singapore and Beijing are big airports with proper lounges only requiring the boarding pass (displaying your flight in Business Class) for access.

In Singapore, I'd suggest the Silverkris (not anything with "Gold"!) lounge which is the true/best Business class lounge. Preferably the one in T3 (you can walk/take the shuttle trains freely around the Terminals, minus T4, which is "special") - it's a very solid lounge, but not everyone's absolute favorite.

The Business class lounge in PEK is "ok'ish". Food is anything from bad to OK (I like the noodles to order, and the Sushi is quite ok too) - drinks are, in one word, bad (the beer is the best option..). Internet sucks.

Don't expect too much from the lounges.
