Just in case we come into an inheritance before travelling I did drill into upgrading just my wife for the outbound and return long stages of the trip. But Emirates option on upgrading means you can only upgrade all stages of the return trip for all passengers booked on it. Hopelessly inflexible then.

What's disappointing is that the airline does not have the wit to offer a portable or clip-on solution on demand, for anyone (especially middle aged & over) under 5'5" in height. Only a handful would be needed per flight.

So we'll look into getting something on Amazon for the trip. just hoping it is not too inconvenient for other adjacent passengers who are not in the aisle seat.
