I've been using QR to fly to the Far East for several years, and good though it is, I fancy a change; and since many, if not most, EK flights ex-LHR have QF code shares, I should still be able to earn tier points.

Does Emirates normally have a January sale ex-LHR, and if so, when is it likely to start? What level of discount is to be expected?

I remember seeing return flights from LHR to BKK in business class going for about £1500 for a couple of days in early October, but my internet connection (in northern Laos) wasn't up to the challenge of making a booking then, so I'm hoping there will be a similar offer again soon.
