Using Aeroplan/MR to upgrade travel

Hello all,

still relatively a noob trying to get some way to make my flight more enjoyable.

I am planning to fly from YYZ to DPS, and the flight I've booked is YYZ - ICN - DPS in economy, YYZ - ICN is with Air Canada, ICN - DPS with Korean Air. I'm flying with my wife and one year old who will be seated with one of us.

Here's my question: I have 23,000 Aeroplan points, but also 50,000+ AMEX MR points, so if I were to convert some of my AMEX MR points to Aeroplan, could I technically upgrade the YYZ - ICN for both me and my wife to Business Class with 50,000 Aeroplan points (since ICN is considered Asia 1 and requires 25K points for an upgrade)? and also, would this only upgrade one way for that segment or a round trip for that segment?

Thanks in advance for the help!
