Best Business Class on Long Haul Flights?
What's the consensus on the best business class for a US airline for a long haul flight? We can't open this up to Singapore Air and other foreign carriers because they blow the US carriers away. Think about factors like the aircraft and possibly the routes. In other words, Biz Elite on a Delta 777 (maybe the only one they have left) I think is nicer than Business Class on a NW DC-10. That being said, I think Business Class on most of the airlines in newer planes, 777's & A330's beats the older 767's and DC-10's, MD-11's etc. I've flown AA, NW, Delta and Continental in Business in the last 6 months on Int'l flights. I can't comment on United or US Air. I have not seen a huge difference on the routes either. Comparing all their newest aircraft, I don't think there is a huge difference between any of them. All the food is pretty good and service is good although I think Continental has a more personal touch with their concierges on the plane. I think the movie selection on CO could be improved. I like NW because I can get complimentary upgrades from my travel agent so their price is usually pretty hard to beat. CO also has more doodads in their gift bag.
I think I lean toward CO but that is based a lot on personal nuances and preferences. 777's and A330's trump all older planes and 767's trump DC-10's.
