No that wouldn't work. Whilst carrier surcharge is very low or even zero for bookings exHKG, the price here would be quoted as an exLHR return and be priced as LHR-HKG-LHR. In order to take advantage of the low exHKG pride you would need to book it as two singles but then you lose the ability to use a 2-4-1 and reduce the avios.
