As a BA Gold I tend to find that travelling with AA appears to be recognized more - the cabin crew almost always greets you onboard, even in Y - but some of that on internal flights probably relates to the BOB. Certainly the rookie AA crews almost swoon (!) when they see a OWE!
I have never been referred to anything other than AA Executive Platinum, despite being BA Gold.
It took me a couple of times to understand that the discreet "are you sure you don't want anything?" is a way of letting me know that everything is free for OWE, without informing everybody else in the vicinity.
