Has anybody visited this beach house? Worth trekking there from the hotel?
To answer my own question - the new Beach House is GREAT!
It's about 10-15 minutes from the hotel, and you get there by taking a shuttle from the hotel (which leaves at :00 and :30 of each hour from 10AM-4PM). The shuttle takes you to the Peninsula Papagayo Activity Center Clubhouse, where you get out of the shuttle, and transfer to a modified off-roading golf cart. The golf cart takes you along an off-road route for about 3-4 minutes, where you see lots of wildlife (monkeys, birds, Iguanas, Termite nests, etc) to the beach house.
You enter the beach house via its own restaurant, and then walk onto the beach area, which is very well shaded, and has tons of different seating arrangements. Plenty of servers around to help you, as well as take food/drink orders. As with the main pools, sunblock and water is free and available throughout.
We went there 3x during our 6 day stay. Each day, the servers would come by with a free treat - once it was cut, bite-size pieces of sugarcane. Another day it was a cold juice, etc.
Well worth visiting!!
