At least they hand the PIN pad to you if your card needs one (as they did for the person I observed paying), but at that point what's the use of the PIN pad in the first place?
It isn't that rare in any country (hand over just for PIN entry), but contactless has changed this and caused shops to understand the customer should hold the card.
