All i'm saying is that in my opinion, you'll be better off at LGW.

Bear in mind that LHR is a transfer hub for coach services too, and there are some hopeless waiting areas by the coach station. The BAA website does suggest that there is a Starbucks-type coffee place in each terminal open 24hrs, but that's going to be it for facilities, whereas at LGW you'll have more choice and also probably find a cople of shops open if you want to buy a newspaper.
