Rental in SFO: best strategy
Hi,
I will be renting in SFO next April (for near 3 weeks, a saturday around 2.00pm) and just seen new pricing (lower) than when I have done my reservation in August. So I cancel this one and do a new one on the Executive Aisle.
But, I would like to get a high clearance vehicle (so a SUV at least) and if possible a AWD (as we will go in the mountains and we might see snow there at that time).
But Full Size SUV is a bit too expensive (more than 900USD)... I would like to stay below 800 USD for the full location.
Premier selection upgrade will be also too expensive as it is a day rate (so, if the lowest upgrade rate is 20 USD, it would mean more than 400 USD extra for the whole rental period).
So, I have the following choices:
- full size aisle location (around 670 USD)
- premium (around 750 USD)
- Mid-size SUV (around 800 USD)
My questions are:
- can I do a premium reservation and see how it goes at SFO when I arrived? If the ES is attractive, can I get car from there and pay the Aisle amount for the rental? Or can I cancel the premium reservation and do immediately an Aisle reservation at the same price as of today ?
- if I do a mid-size SUV, can I do the same as above? Any chance to get a full size one with AWD?
- should I do 2 reservations (one premium, one aisle or one Mid-size SUV, one aisle)?
Thanks for your help and feedback
Best regards
N
