There is no reason why BA won't transport the item, so long as it is properly packed and meets the size and weight constraints (including excess charges if applicable). But, there is a significant question as to whether BA or your insurance will cover any damage. Thus, correct packing is a must. Original packaging alone is unlikely to suffice, but that is really a risk which you must assess as you are likely assuming that risk.
