I've been meaning to add my $0.02 with regard to entry-level rooms or thereabouts. Calculating benefits/price balances, I've had good experiences with both Virtuoso and with hotel websites, and sometimes with OTAs as well. I like to assess the options but not spend too much time obsessing. It does seem possible that at least some hotel websites are now doing more to offer benefits.
