I travel with what I call "room clothes." Soft, loose black rayon pants and black top, almost as comfortable as pajamas but passable to go down the hall for ice or pull on to go to the lounge for breakfast, especially with a sweater thrown over. I don't like to get fully dressed before coffee, but I do bother with a bare minimum to my face and hair so as not to scare people. For other people, gym clothes serve the same purpose and if I can't see sweat or smell it, I don't care that someone has worked out before coming to breakfast. This level of informality would not be appropriate at every lounge but it works for the ones I use. As far as touching the food, if you touch it, take it.
