UA metals won't get you to either BKK or KUL. You will have to waste a couple of thousands of miles on ANA. I agree that SIN is the best place to make an immediate turn. But the long flight from SFO/LAX will give you a pause of doing this kind of traditional MRs. I applause OP for achieving the GS goal.
