For Le Meridien, you will need to trade 500 points for hotel restaurant, unless they also change again. I guess it is nothing to do with Marriott taking over. It is all about hotel policy. Maybe eventually there are many Platinum therefore they will need to change it. But complimentary breakfast is just something so simple and doesn't cost much to offer premium member. I will probably refrain from staying at property that is too strict with their platinum members.
