The other home carrier at KEF, WOW Air, also stops flying over Christmas. This year there were only three arrivals and three departures at KEF on Christmas day. Just a few years ago there was no flying at all on Christmas day. It was just lights off and maybe one security guard watching the terminal buildings. It was also impossible to find any sort of a business establishment open in Iceland on Christmas day. This has changed slightly in the last few years with growing winter tourism.
