i just use QC20 buds so I won't get bugged by anyone to remove them as long as they believe it's plugged into the IFE. I can also sleep on my side with them mid-flight.
They also don't require batteries, and can be charged by micro USB.
My personal opinion sways towards the 20s for overall utility, but I have no doubt many will prefer the quality of over the ear models.
