So break out the interesting refreshments and let's look at some of these.
I believe during Pearl Harbor the DC3 fleet was attacked on the ground, one caught fire but a fire extinguisher was hit by one of the bullets and spraying randomly put the fire out.

Let's go for National. A 727-200, routing via New Orleans and Houston.

Depends very much when in 1949. I'll guess sometime in the northern summer, it was British South American Airways, and the flight was on an Avro York as I would guess the Tudor was withdrawn. From Santiago via Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio, Recife, Dakar and Lisbon to London Heathrow (probably still called London Air Port, 3 words).

And with that, I'll sit back and thumb through the past weeks' worth of interesting posts here. Where's that cognac.
Welcome back, WHBM! And Merry Christmas to you, your family and everyone here on the OTAQ&D!

1. Correct! Hawaiian Air flight 9 had 24 passengers on board when it was attacked during the battle of Pearl Harbor by a Japanese carrier-based fighter aircraft which resulted in an engine on the DC-3 catching fire. A stray bullet did indeed hit the fire extinguisher thus putting out the flames and no one was injured. This event was mentioned in Ripley's "Believe It Or Not".

4. British South American Airways (BSAA) is correct! However, the routing was just a bit different: Santiago - Buenos Aires - Montevideo - Sao Paulo - Natal - Dakar - Lisbon - London. BSAA flight 222 departed Santiago at 9:55 am every Wednesday and arrived in London on the following Saturday at 3:35 pm.

23. Well, you've got both of the stops correct! However, the air carrier in question wasn't National nor was the equipment at B727-200. Please guess again, sir!
