Amex statement credit reversal $200. (this has nothing to do with airline credits)
In November I suddenly received a statement credit on my gold card for $200. I was not sure what it was and online it just had a code to it. I called Amex the day it posted and after looking at it and talking with a supervisor the agent said it was part of my sign on bonus as it was a one year anniversary of getting the card. I did not remember that part of the sign on but I thanked him for confirming it and moved on. When the physical statement came the credit was labeled as "11/20/17* CEA8:0001 $200 Statement Credit upon product anniversary"
Now, 33 days later, out of the blue there is a credit reversal of $200 on my account. I called Amex and agent says original credit was a mistake. I should never have received the credit and Amex just now figured that this happened to "several" accounts. She and supervisor of course could not undo this. I realize mistakes happen but I opened a case with the agent as I feel my original call day of confirming the credit in the first place should override the mistake they made. Anyone else experience this today? Thoughts?
