I took it the OP was asking if something like the "flat tire" rule was applicable. Of course, we all know it's not a rule, it's a voluntary consideration the airline has the option to extend.
Let me ask a slightly different question. If circumstances at Immigration cause a missed connection and if the cxn was on the same ticket as the originating flight, would you be protected and be seated on a subsequent flight? How about a single ticket with a code share?
For example, I could see a real problem with an MCT at CDG, connecting from 2F to 2E.
