The slightly out of the way location of both the W and RC also is much less appealing than the Pen. But the RC is more luxurious than the W. It’s a very nice W, perhaps one of the brand’s best hard products in the world. But it’s also one of the nicest RC properties in the world.
I am surprised too, on both points. The Peninsula Hong Kong absolutely epitomizes luxury as much, if not more, than any of its competitors in Hong Kong, or the world for that matter. If it’s not luxury, then I don’t know what is.

R-C and W are under same ownership, along with FS, which explains why they are co located. And, W has since become a Marriott brand so they are now related in that way as well. I think the assertion that even the R-C is more of a luxury hotel than the Peninsula would be a very difficult claim to argue, let alone the W, which does not even operate in the same market segment as R-C and Pen.
