IIRC the standard Plat upgrade at the Bristol is a junior suite, not a real suite, although some of their junior suites are very nice and have views to the opera house. There are a limited number of these junior suites. When I stayed her for about three nights as a Plat50 (I think I even tried to use SNAs), I did not get one. Do not assume that you'll get an upgrade, especially for an eight night stay.
