I have an interesting situation. I'm booked on a SFO-IAH-SFO nonstop itinerary in M class for both segments.
Just noticed that there has been a substantial price decrease on the IAH-SFO return segment overall and now the amount I paid for M class is more than the amount .com is asking for Z (lowest prem cabin fare class available). $606 vs $593.
Would they allow a buyup to premium cabin even though it's cheaper than what I paid initially? Any idea what would happen to the fare difference?
I'm in the same situation with the same fare classes but they won't do it. Rather than let me buy up to Z, at a lower total fare, they will only let me buy up to A, which is slightly more expensive than what I paid. Very annoying, as I wasn't even looking for a refund, just the upgrade and higher fare class.
The agent said she called the rate desk and both she and they were getting an error message of some sort.
