50/50 on ID - 100% on wanting to see 1K card. But however worthless and stupid this process is, the problem seems to be in whatever the programming is to do the upgrade transfer. The process is just broken and needs to be fixed or they need to go back to paper. Period.

Take xpacific's advice regarding the "United Field" to heart - this is the only way that agents seem to actually believe you're not pulling something over on them. Without this, they don't even try to make it work. With a note here (and pointed out by the traveler), they'll at least spend some time trying to figure it out.

It's a disgrace by United that this disaster has been allowed to go on as long as it has. It has pissed off so many of my friends to the point that they have a horrible taste in their mouths about United.
