Should remember that the MD-88 (possibly the MD-90's) also have a rear stairwell thats built in that should allow passengers to deplane from. I remember years ago with NWA DC-9's using these built in stairs to exit an aircraft in GCM when they were trying to double the time it took to deplane an aircraft.
Good point.
I have exited via the rear stairs when the GA, after 15 minutes of trying, could not successfully position the jetway.
It would be interesting to know how many of the planes stranded in the tarmac were MD aircraft.
Don't the MDs make up about 20% of the DL fleet?
