i always take my aadvantage number out when booking on aa.com and then call american directly and have an agent put my alaska number in there

incidentally, when you check-in at a kiosk, your alaska number WILL NOT be printed in the frequent flyer section even though it is in there. an agent told me for some wierd reason that the alaska number will print out on a boarding pass issued by an agent but not on the kiosk boarding passes.

i have found that i must always keep my aa boarding passes and check carefully. miles are only posted for me automaticall about 50% of the time.
