You had no reason to cancel your award ticket on BA so soon, knowing that given the "fare" you paid, there was a very high risk that your ticket was going to be cancelled.
No one will believe you, when you say that you bought First class transatlantic tickets in the past for a similar price. This is just impossible and may explain the kind of reaction that some posters have had towards you. To generate empathy, you need to tell the truth.
I see you as the kind of "customer" who would pick a bottle of Dom Perignon in the shop and ask to pay €13 because one zero had falling off the label and the scanning at the cash register says € 130. This kind of "customers" rarely attract sympathy from others, so you should not feel offended.
There is the key word "knowing". If I had known... I would not have cancelled my award fare.
I'm not asking for empathy. I simply asked what can be done. This thread went sideways and isn't on point anymore.
Since a few of you seem to think amazing fares in F are always mistakes... I will share my most recent experience. I bought 2 tickets in F on United pdx-sao. Around $1850 per ticket. I know you must be amazed that we actually flew with these tickets and had no issues. This is one of a few deals that I have purchased without an issue. My recent experience with AF is the first time I have had a ticket cancelled. However I usually fly on award travel. I suppose I've been fortunate so far. Perhaps I'm naive since I've never bought, what I now know, is a publicized mistake fare.
To make this personal as some of you have is really pathetic. Perhaps you should find another outlet for your aggression.
