Sunday at YUL:
YUL was completely off-the-scale NUTS due to the afternoon departure of all those F1 fans and race teams, with a Security lineup that took most people almost 2 hours to clear due to the union work-to-rule tactics that were imposed for this special occasion, thereby causing equivalent departure delays for most outbound flights, while simultaneously stalling incoming flights who had to hold on the tarmac until the gates could clear... (really great for the future of F1 tourism that just injected $75 million over the weekend);
-- haven't seen chaos like this since I got stranded in Jakarta 25 years ago. I figure you're due for something like this once in a while, so tried to objectify everything instead of taking it personally, but just try telling that to the folks at the back of the YUL Security lineup who missed their homeward flights... I noticed that staff monitoring the lineup were being rotated every 20 minutes or so to try keep the lid on things, as people's anxiety levels were becoming toxic. Maybe all that high octane F1 exhaust that folks were inhaling that day?
