The Hartmann is still in the box it came in and was replaced with a Briggs and Riley roll-aboard that is built like a tank and is guaranteed for life regardless of who or what damaged it. I've used it almost weekly for the past 3 years and it still looks close to new.

That's pretty easy to say about a roll-aboard that mostly if not always is cared for by the owner. We have a complete set of Briggs & Riley that travels in the hold, and it hasn't fared particularly well. It is indeed built like a tank, and unfortunately weighs about the same, in spite of which seams and zippers need attention periodically. They certainly honor the lifetime warranty, no quibbles, but it means periodic trips to the luggage repair shop. Eventually it will look so scruffy we'll give up on it.

The last piece we bought was something under the Costco banner, with a similar warranty. We'll see how that goes. It was half the price of Briggs, and actually seems better made, but then it's still newish looking.
