Not really.
There is no "law" about status and how it is depicted on boarding passes.
Many systems just take a snapshot of status at the time that the frequent flyer booking is made.
Ensuring that status is always up to date - to the extent that every booking system everywhere checks for status updates every day, for example, or even checking again at the time of check-in - is not the bread-and-butter of an airline's business.
