I have a situation coming in a couple of months where I'm going to get some 10,000 miles on Austrian and Lufthansa. Given the questionable future for Aeroplan and my use of Amex for rewards, any suggestions where those miles would best be put to use?
Avianca very often sells miles for ~1.5 cents each, which can be very cost effective for premium cabin redemptions. That would be a good one since you'll be able to easily add to these initial miles.

If you have a Citi/Chase/SPG card, that adds more *A programs you can transfer to. With just Amex, Singapore Silverkris is a decent choice, although they've had a lot of recent devaluations. ANA is alright too, but only allows roundtrip redemptions.
