I have been assigned a seat several times in front of the second curtain in economy class. The passengers receive a better snack compared to the other economy passengers. What are the criteria for being seated in the "upgraded" economy section? I can only think of my KL Platinum status. I didn't know about the service difference and therefore I didn't ask to be seated there. There were still a lot of seats empty behind this curtain and also in the the "upgraded" economy section. The seats seem to be the same within the economy class.
They are. The front section is for passengers who have paid the "Tempo Challenge" (i.e. full) fare, typically business travellers. You do get an upgraded meal, which is the least they can do considering you've paid about ten times what the rest of the cabin have.
