Award a friend with Altitude Elite 50K
One of the privileges that I care most about as a Super Elite is the option to award a friend (in my case my spouse) with 50K status. I attempted to do this several weeks ago and was not able to do so. Here is the strange message that I received when I tried to do it.
"Your friend has already reached 2018 Air Canada Altitude status, valid through February 28, 2019. You can award 2018 Altitude status to this member beginning March 2, 2018."
I awarded my spouse 50K status last year at this time and it is good through to February 2018. Her AQMs and AQDs are not high enough for her to earn 50K from her travel in 2017. So the above message is just not correct - her 50K status is not valid through to 2019.
Unfortunately the above message is preventing me from awarding my spouse with 50K status. I reached out to the Concierge staff, the Super Elite desk and Aeroplan and no one could figure out why this is happening. They did admit that the 2019 date is a glitch but they were not able to provide me with a workaround. I was told that I would have to wait until March 2, 2019 to to do the award, even though the website says it can be done anytime before October 15, 2018. The problem with this is that it could take up to a month for her status to go through and for her to receive her card.
Are there any Super Elites out there who have experienced this problem? Has anyone been able to successfully go through with the award?
Thank you.
