Yes, a three prong or a UK adaptor is more likely to work.
I use a UK adapter, they have the advantage of being completely stackable (unlike the EU plugs). And I carry them in my bag for Hong Kong, anyways.
But I have seen some Apple chargers not "activate" the outlet. Had to help my seatmate out once by plugging in my charger to do that.
