Madison County, Alabama had a county-wide power outage in 2011 that lasted for over 4 days. All of the trunk power lines into the county were downed by a large series of tornadoes.
The HSV airport and attached hotel continued to operate during this period with diesel generators. But the HVAC was not on the generators, so the terminal did get warmish even though the outside weather was very temperate.
Anyway, I expect the evacuation plan for the ATL airport will need to be revisited after yesterday's events.
