Not PH standard and just not good enough

Check In We arrived after a 3 hour drive from Sydney and there were no bellboys to valet the car. There were no staff at the front of the hotel. The older guests arriving at the same time as us had no help with their luggage and none of the doors are automatic so we helped them.Check in was swift and the receptionist pointed to where our room is. PH standard is, especially for Globalists, is to be escorted to the room by the duty manager. Globally, PH staff are trained to never ever point for directions, but if anyone asks to escort them to where they need to go.We said that our car was at the front of the hotel and needed to be valeted. The Concierge appeared and took the keys, but there were still no bellman. Room We utilised a TSU for Park Suite King and I specifically requested a view of Lake Burley Griffin. We were allocated a suite in the back corner which must be only one of two rooms with a Lake view which was positive. It also had two vathrooms. The air con couldn’t cope with the 35 degree heat and was extremely loud throughout the day and night. The vases and other glassware in the room were bizarre in bright red colours and totally out of design with the room and the hotel. The couch is from Fantastic Furniture which is a very cheap nationwide furniture store. All of the furniture was scratched and scuffed. While the marble bathrooms look luxurious, the tapware is from the 1970s. Two PowerPoints were inoperable. The bed was very soft and made for an uncomfortable sleep. Service We didn't think the service could get worse, but we called for our car 20 mins before we intended to depart. We checked out at reception and asked the one bellyboy we found for the keys. We walked outside to find the car unlocked which is unacceptable, but began to load our luggage.Over 20 mins passed and I saw the bellyboy staring at us from inside. I asked him for the keys and he said "They aren't in the car?"He then disappeared for another 5 mins before bringing them out. Dining It may be one of the few PHs with a lounge, but the Ambassador lounge food offerings appeared to be days old, especially the salads with wilted lettuce and vegetables and the liquor was the cheapest possible brands. The lounge attendant was lovely but this was perhaps one of the worst lounges for F&B we have experienced. The HR SYD suprpasses their offerings in every possible way.We returned to the hotel at 10PM and wanted to have some cocktails and a bite to eat. We found the bar already closed. The website states it is open until 1AM on Saturdays. We ended up retreating to the room and ordering room service and drinking from the minibar. We chose to have breakfast in the restaurant and it was equally disappointing. The fruit was certainly not fresh and the coffee sub par. Overall I think I was previously blinded to just how bad the Hyatt Hotel Canberra is because of their upgrades to Ambassador suites in the past. Overall, the Hyatt Hotel Canberra is a really really poor excuse for a PH and simply not good enough.
