My experience at Hyderabad (Begumpet) PSK was much smoother than what anirudh666 went thru. The TCS employee (He was super fast and super helpful) at the token counter told me that they were seeing problems with Police Verification if we give a residing since date as something in the past so he asked me to get it changed in Counter A to when I landed in India which I did. At counter A, the other TCS employee told me that for GEP there is no ability for SMS update and she returned my Rs.45. But I did get an SMS later in the evening with info about the Police Officer assigned to my case along with his mobile number. Also at Counter C, as I posted above, I was given an acknowledgment letter with a time slot to go back to the PSK after the Police Verification was done.
So I waited until the next morning and gave the officer a call and he was close-by and so he came home in like 10 mins. He just took a copy of my passport and Aadhar, and had my dad and granddad sign as witnesses and also took my thumb impression. He did not know what GEP was so I explained to him. He was super friendly and was asking questions about life in the US. He also asked for a passport size photo of me. Since I did not have one, I offered to get one taken and give it to him but he was like "...it is not necessary, I can manage it". But I insisted on getting him the photo so went and took one and gave him a call and he was still around in the area so he came by to take the picture. He did not bring a tablet or anything with him nor did he take any pictures of the house or ask any questions about how long we have been in the house. He said that he would enter all the details in the system by that evening. He also mentioned that he is not associated with the local police station and that he is from a special branch that is attached to our Commissionarate and mostly deals with police verification requests.
I believe the way the Police Verification is done differs from city to city hence all the different experiences posted here. Will be going back to the PSK tomorrow morning to see what's the necessity for a second visit. Spoke to a friend who lives down the road from ours and who went through the GEP process in August and he said that he was not asked to go back to the PSK.
