The plane originally planned for that route (G-BZHA) had landed in Heathrow at 18:00. Flight was cancelled around 17:12.
This plane then spent the night at Heathrow it appears.
Two A321s were able to fly the route slightly later that night (20.05 BA1494 and 20.40 BA1478).
While I know BA had another 767 diverted to EDI which then flew EDI-GLA-LHR later that night, other GLA-LHR flights had delays , BA1489 (15:25 dep 19:34 - this was the diverted 767), BA1493 (18:05 dep 19:23), BA1495 (19:15 dep 20:20)
They could have turned around G-BHZA and flew to GLA with only a short delay in total, but my assumption is that they didn't want the chance of it remaining at GLA overnight.
I do beleive that was when GLA's runway was closed for De-icing... Other airlines cancelled flights or where diverted to either EDI or PIK.
