I disagree with that. Somewhat.

In the context of my LX F, I'm now in J, and I'm spending less time with my friend.

Any change I make to improve either of those is not voluntary.

If they want to argue with that, they can put me back on my original flights (which all still operate at the times I booked).

Until both of us are flying in F, on the same flights, no earlier than the original flights, the changes are all attempting to mitigate an unacceptable involuntary change.

Making one change to improve the situation doesn't mean it's solved. It means it's better than the crap they gave me.
