Every airline needs to take a look at their cost structure but bankruptcy is not a good way to go about doing it. In the latest round, only US Airways and United have gone to this extreme. American, Northwest and Delta having been working on slashing wages and changing work rules to save costs. It is far cheaper for the airlines to deal with this through contractual changes vs bankruptcy.
