Called to book a room for this coming Sunday a few days ago. After getting disconnected once and transferred once, I was offered a classic room for 4000, a deluxe for 5500 and a junior suite OR executive suite for 8000. I went for the deluxe room since I only have preferred status (so figured no chance of an upgrade). The location is good for meeting friends and for dining--not quite as good as the Courtyard but that was 6666 points (20K Marriott) for a room that's usually half the price of the Metropol (93 Euros at the Courtyard vs. 145 Euros for the deluxe at the Metropol).
Got upgraded to a junior suite upon check-in. The hotel is nice, the staff are friendly and the location is certainly very good. I still think I prefer the Radisson Blu (at least the business class rooms) but my perception may be colored by the fact that I get comped breakfast there (and their food is excellent) and not at the Metropol. All in all a good value and nice to have a major hotel in a European capital that's a category 2 for affordable redemptions (the Belgrade Hyatt is also a cat 2). Looking forward to the opening of the St. Regis and the W in a year or two for some more choice.
