Good Stay at Novotel Singapore on Stevens
Introduction As the newest hotel in Accor's portfolio in Singapore, I decided to give the Novotel Singapore on Stevens a try before trying out the Sofitel Singapore City Centre. Reason being is that I want the teething issues at the City Centre property to be ironed out considering I am paying premium there. Alittle background of the hotel is that Novotel Singapore on Stevens and Mercure Singapore on Stevens are located within the same building. It's a mixed development but Mercure has its own restaurants and so does Novotel. There is a total of 772 rooms in the property with Novotel having 254 rooms and Mercure having 518 rooms. Check In The hotel contacted me 4 days before to enquire what would be our estimated arrival time to the hotel so that they can prepare the room before we arrived. I told them 10am and they said they would try their best depending on availability as hotel was running high occupancy that weekend. *Note, reason why they were running high occupancy was due to Mercure on Stevens having last minute delays and thus, all Mercure guest were housed at Novotel. Not to mention the hotel was also hosting Media/Bloggers staycations on Friday and Saturday night. Thus, causing occupancy to be high. However, upon arrival at around 10.30am, we were directed up to the Premier Lounge (10th floor) for check-in and given a room immediately. We were given a double upgrade from Superior room to Premier room and our welcome drink vouchers. Picture below is the menu for the Welcome Drinks avaliable. Room Our room was located on the 9th floor, room 910. Our Premier room was 23m². The details below at taken from the Hotel's website about our room details. The Premier Lounge operates from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm with the following benefits:Exclusive check-in and check-out in the Premier Lounge on level 10Private breakfast in the Premier Lounge from 6:30am – 10:30 am (Weekdays) and 11:00am (Weekends & Public Holidays)Free flow of alcohol and light bites from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pmAll day refreshment includes coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices and cookiesComplimentary use of Premier Lounge Meeting Room, advance reservation requiredComplimentary minibar and Nespresso machine in roomNote: Children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the Premier Lounge. Premier guests with children may enjoy the service and benefits at L’Apéritif Tapas Bar on level 1. Premier Lounge The Premier Lounge is around the same size at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay. Service at the lounge was excellent and tip top in my opinion. For breakfast, food options at the lounge is quite limited but with far lesser people here, its quieter and more calm compared to the hectic Food Exchange (Main restaurant), I wasn't even able to take photos of the breakfast buffet at the main restaurant as it was full and there was a queue. Understandable since it was a Sunday and around 9.30am.Pictures below are how the lounge looks like and what is served for breakfast. Picture below are the food offferings for Evening Cocktails. Note* The lounge staff are still finalising the drink menu. Dining Food wise at Food Exchange is pretty good. While the hotel was in Soft Opening, I dined there at least 3 times and both Ala CArte food and Dinner buffet was good. Quality over Quantity in my opinion. During my staycation, I had their Sunday Brunch which was resonable priced at SGD$78++ per person. Pictures below show the buffet. I do apologise for not being able to take every dish that was offered in the buffet. Pool / Gym There are 2 pools located within the 2 properties. A Infinity pool and a Lap pool. According to management, both pools will be open to Novotel and Mercure guest. However with regards to the gym, I am not too sure.Picture below shows the gym and pool. Location Location is not so ideal as the nearest 2 MRT stations are located at least 5 mins away via bus. Hotel is located near Orchard road and thus, the hotel operates a complimentary shuttle bus to Orchard road. However with the location not being so ideal, the prices of the rooms do make up for that as the rooms are not overpriced and compensates for its not so ideal location. Overall Overall, my stay was pretty good. I would reccomend the hotel to travellers who are on a budget but doesn't mind being alittle out of the hustle and bustle of Orchard road. Ubers and Cabs into Orchard are only around $4-$6 and thus, makes it quite affordable. Not to mention the hotel operates a Shuttle bus too. Thus, for the price I paid, I feel it was definitely worth it.
