This is certainly not true of the Flyertalk population. Many people specifically target high end properties for award redemption because they provide superior value.
However, there is certainly nothing wrong with Hyatt Regency, so by all means you should stay there if you prefer.
Trust me, if you haven’t ever stayed at PHT, you’re missing out I think. It used to be one of the finest hotels in the world. While it is showing its age a bit now, it’s still an iconic hotel.
